After countless hours of cramming and caffeine, we’ve discovered Brisbane’s best study cafes! These cafes offer the perfect atmosphere for productivity, with free Wi-Fi and plenty of power outlets.

Neighbourhood Coffee Roasters is the perfect spot for students seeking a cozy study environment. With its inviting atmosphere and charming outdoor seating area, it feels like a peaceful retreat, almost as if you’re relaxing in your own backyard. 

Inside, the design is rustic and warm, and you can even see the coffee roaster in action! They roast their own beans on-site, offering a great selection of freshly roasted options.

If you’re a coffee lover or tea enthusiast, this cafe has everything you need for a productive study session.

Pro tip:
They only accept cash so make sure to bring some with you!

The restaurant’s peaceful courtyard and lush garden create a serene oasis right in the heart of UQ’s bustling campus. There’s even a herb garden where guests can pick fresh garnishes for their meals. 

With UQ and Eduroam WiFi available as a convenient spillover from nearby buildings, it’s an ideal spot for students to relax, dine, or even get some work done.

Pro tip:
If you’re getting the fish, trust me – add some chips and you’ve got yourself a classic fish and chips! You won’t regret it.

Immerse Yourself in the Buzzing Ambiance Of Bonsai Botanika

Bonsai Botanika is a hidden gem in the CBD, one of the few cafes open until 6pm, making it a great spot for a late study session. 

This cozy Japanese café boasts a micro coffee roaster and specializes in delicious coffee and matcha drinks. The décor is stylish and calming, creating a soothing atmosphere that’s perfect for focusing.

The upstairs loft is a particularly inviting space to sit and study. Most of the seating is situated upstairs, and in true Japanese style, the dining furniture is small and adorable, contributing to an intimate yet lively atmosphere.

If you’re looking for recommendations, the iced matcha latte, iced chocolate, and buttermilk cake are must-tries! Plus, they offer a variety of alternative milk options to customize your drinks.

Pro tip:
Just a heads up—there’s an extra charge on weekends, and if you’re paying by card, there’s a small fee as well.

Located in Albert Street, Brew Café & Wine Bar is a hidden gem in the CBD, offering a cool basement vibe. With funky interiors, this café feels like something you’d find in a trendy corner of London or New York, blending artful décor with great coffee and tasty food.

Their breakfast and lunch menu offers solid options, and the atmosphere makes it a fun place to unwind.

We shared both the chicken and beef burgers, and they were absolutely delicious! Don’t miss out on the truffle fries—they’re a must-try too!

Pro tip:
Keep in mind, it gets pretty packed during lunchtime. If you’re looking for a quiet spot to study, it might be better to head there in the evening since they stay open late.

You can enjoy a drink or a bite to eat inside with air-conditioning, or sit in the covered outdoor area where a gentle breeze adds to the relaxed vibe.

Their menu offers fresh salads, sandwiches, and a variety of baked goods, along with a selection of cooked dishes. 

We highly recommend the chicken schnitzel salad—just $10 for a small size, and it’s packed with incredibly fresh ingredients and flavor!

Pro tip:
The regular milkshake here is great, but if you’re looking for a lactose-free option, this might not be the best spot for you.

The food here is just as impressive, with delicious, high-quality meals that are as tasty as they are Instagram-worthy. Whether you’re in it for the coffee or the food, it’s definitely worth going out of your way to experience this café’s amazing offerings.

Note to Brisbane coffee lovers: This blend is only available online, as it isn’t roasted up here.

The café’s open, airy vibe adds to its appeal, with elevated views of the green athletics field, tennis courts, and the Brisbane River in the distance.

Known for serving the best coffee at UQ, you can count on a perfect cup every time. While the food is simple—think sandwiches, baguettes, croissants, and pastries—it’s satisfying. We tried the potato pie, and it hit the spot!

Pro tip:
The small tables here can be joined together to create a bigger work surface so you can do that if you’re looking for more space to spread out your work materials.

Veneziano has had a fantastic makeover, making it a perfect spot for both meetings and solo work sessions.  The recent renovations have truly transformed the space, with calming background music and a clean, modern feel.

The new individual tables and booths lining the walls provide a cozy, focused atmosphere, while the sunny outdoor deck is a great option if you want to enjoy some fresh air while getting things done. 

Their healthy breakfast and brunch options are just what you need for an energy boost to power through a busy day. The homestyle muffins and pastries are irresistible and you can even snag a loaf of artisan bread to take home. 

Pro tip:
Just keep in mind the 10% sit-in surcharge and a 1.1% credit card fee when you visit.

Gramps is a great cafe with a lush garden and strong Wi-Fi. The relaxed vibe makes it perfect for hitting deadlines without the city rush.

Menu is diverse with unique dishes not your standard fare that will have us coming back to try more. We had the Turkish eggs and mince and beans, flavorsome and hearty for a brisk morning. Coffee was great.

We ordered a ‘spicy grandad’ lovely folded egg mix with a great blend of flavors and a ‘smashed avo’ with extras, fantastic slightly pickled red onion, with a lovely sweet-chili dewdrop.

Pro tip:
Dogs are allowed here so it’s a great spot to bring your furry friend along!

Review Your Notes At the Single Guys Cafe

Known for its welcoming community vibe, The Single Guys offers a fantastic blend of delicious food, great coffee, and comfortable seating. With Wi-Fi and power outlets readily available, it’s an ideal spot for students and remote workers alike.

You can’t go wrong with their sensational breakfast burger—it’s truly a standout! Pair it with their excellent coffee, whether you’re in the mood for a steaming latte or a refreshing cold brew on a hot summer day. 

This café serves the best coffee in the west, and honestly, it’s the finest we’ve had in Brisbane! The quality is consistently outstanding, and each sip transports us back to Wellington, the coffee capital of the Southern Hemisphere.

Pro tip:
This café is a must-visit if you’re planning to buckle down for a long study session, as those power outlets are perfect for keeping your devices charged while you work.
